My group has been actively involved in ecological and biodiversity research with a special interest in the evolutionary and behavioral ecology of birds, urban ecology, wetland studies and ecological modeling. I have undertaken studies based on occupancy modeling to assess the occupancy status of resident birds of Delhi and their association with persisting habitats, such as woodland, urban and open areas in an urbanized landscape. I have also studied the nest survival rate in Painted Storks which was found to be significantly affected by environmental factors like rainfall and daily minimum temperature, besides colony-specific parameters such as nest density. My current research interest is in understanding the colony dynamics and distribution of Stork species outside protected areas. I am also interested in understanding factors that can affect escape decisions in waterbird species. I am a member of the IUCN Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group and Species Survival Commission. I am also passionate about filming birds and other forms of wildlife and make small documentaries to showcase some interesting behavior and highlight relevant issues.
